  1. World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June every year to raise awareness and encourage action for the protection of the environment. The 50th anniversary of World Environment Day was hosted by Côte D’Ivoire, with the theme of “Solutions to Plastic Pollution”.
  2. United Nations’ International Day for the Fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing is annually observed across the globe on 5 June to address the issue of illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activities.
  3. World Day against Speciesism is annually observed on 5 June across the world to stop discrimination based on species membership.
  4. The 193 UN Member States, elected a veteran diplomat from Trinidad and Tobago, Dennis Francis as the President of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
